Some people say pitcher-catcher tandems are like married couples, so attuned each must be to the others habits strengths and flaws. If that’s true, then each pitcher is allowed a little infidelity, given that catchers need days off, lowering the odds that one catcher and one pitcher will work together exclusively. Some catchers, however, work so well with certain pitchers to form a bond so solid that the issue of stepping out never comes up.
