Make it 13 wins in a row for the Cleveland Indians. The Blue Jays bats were held quiet on Thursday night at the Rogers Centre as Toronto dropped the series opener 4-1.

Carlos Carrasco was downright brilliant for the Indians, striking out 14 in seven and one-third innings of work while limiting the Blue Jays to just three hits and a pair of walks.

By the end of the game Toronto racked up 17 strikeouts, a season high.

Toronto starter R.A. Dickey overcame a pair of home runs to deliver a quality start for the Blue Jays, limiting Cleveland to three runs on eight hits over seven innings of work. Dickey struck out four and issued one walk.

Former Blue Jays outfielder Rajai Davis got to Dickey first with a deep solo home run to lead off the second inning. Jason Kipnis followed suit an inning later with a solo shot of his own over the right-field wall. Home runs have been an issue for Dickey this season as he allowed four in his last outing against the Chicago White Sox.

Brett Cecil was first out of the bullpen after being activated from the disabled list earlier in the day and looked very sharp. The left-hander tossed one shutout inning with a strikeout. Bo Schultz allowed one run on a Tyler Naquin triple in the ninth.

Josh Donaldson was responsible for the only damage from the Blue Jays with a deep home run of his own to centre-field, his 19th of the season.

Game two of the series is a Canada Day special. First pitch is schedule for 1:07 p.m. ET tomorrow with Marcus Stroman (6-4, 5.33 ERA) scheduled to face Josh Tomlin 9-1, 3.32 ERA).
