As noted in this very space, the Indians prevailed over the Blue Jays 2-1 in Toronto on Friday, and they did so in sprawling 19-inning fashion.

Tribe right-hander Trevor Bauer had much do with said Triumph, as he worked five shutout innings in relief. Bauer, it so happens, was also Cleveland's scheduled starter for Saturday.

Also, as proved by the lovely abundance of red in the Rogers Centre, Friday occasioned Canada Day.

Anyhow, that brings us back to Bauer. Once he got finished with his five spotless frames, he fired up the Twitter machine and sent off the following Internet missive:

The Indians have ripped off 14 wins in a row, hence the fire emojis. They also won, so they get a perfect 100 for the day's efforts. And then we have the American flags!

You see, a team based in the U.S. went north to Canada and vanquished a team from Ontario on Canada Day. Take that! So, yes, in that sense Trevor Bauer, Cleveland twirler and California native, was subtweeting all of Canada.

So by pointing this out, is this scribe trafficking in concocted outrage? No. It's funny. That's why we're here talking, you and I. Now run along.
