Blue Jays trade rumors: CC Sabathia and Andrew Cashner

Sportsnet.ca tells us that the Blue Jays have been scouting Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and Padre Andrew Cashner.

Cashner, a RHP, isn't having the best of seasons. He has a 4.79 ERA (exactly the same as his FIP) in 15 starts, with 27 walks and 61 strikeouts in 73.1 innings. He's 29, has a 3,72 ERA in a 7 year MLB career, 189 games, 97 starts, mostly with the Padres.

CC has been pretty ok this season, he has a 4.04 ERA (3.89 FIP) in 17 starts, he has a vesting option, on his contract, for next season. He would make $25 million in 2017 if:

he doesn't end the 2016 on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, doesn't spend more than 45 days on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, and doesn't make more than six relief appearances due to a shoulder injury.

And he has 10 and 5 rights, but he might be willing to waive them to move to a contender.

I don't think I'd drop any of our 5 starters out of the rotation for either of those two, but if the team has decided to move Aaron Sanchez to the pen, and, they decide that Drew Hutchison isn't the guy they want, well they will need someone take that spot.

I have my doubts they would make a trade with the Yankees.

I'm actually getting my head around the idea of Jay Bruce. I could see the Jays wanting to move Jose Bautista to DH and use Edwin at first, so Bruce in right would give us another left-handed power bat. I doubt it would happen, but I can understand way they would think about it.

I'd imagine the Jays are scouting anyone that might be available.
