Blue Jays activate Morales and Estrada

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The Blue Jays have reinstated Marco Estrada and Franklin Morales from the DL. Morales has been rehabbing and has hit the limit for the length of time a player can be 'rehabbing', so something had to be done. Marco Estrada went on the DL on July 7th (retroactive to the 3rd). The Jays were waiting until after the trip to Arizona to call him up.  Marco gets the start tonight against the Mariners.

Morales pitched in 2 games at Dunedin and then 9 at Buffalo. In all, he pitched 11 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 earned, 1 home run, 6 walks and 9 home runs. The walks thing kind of worries me.

To make room Aaron Loup and Andy Burns head back to Buffalo. Loup has a 6.00 ERA in 10 games with the Jays. Burns got into 10 games, had 7 PA, had no hits, no walks, took one for the team and struck out 2 times.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Dustin Antolin got the DFA treatment. Antolin pitched in 1 game, when he was called up by the Jays earlier this year. He gave up 3 runs in 2.0 innings. In Buffalo he had a 2.37 ERA in 39 innings, allowing 30 hits, 2 home runs, 23 walks with 42 strikeouts.
