Thanks to a sauna-related injury, the Blue Jays will be without their starting catcher for the next few days.

Manager John Gibbons told reporters Friday that Russell Martin hurt his knee during a fall in the shower after he stayed in the sauna a little too long. Here are the details:

Yeah, that's slightly embarrassing. Gibbons didn't even soften the blow. He could have easily covered that up by saying Martin tweaked his knee on the bases or something, but nope. Fell in the shower after an extended sauna session.

The Blue Jays have won three straight games and seven of their last 10, and this weekend they'll welcome the Mariners to Toronto for a fairly important three-game series. The Jays are sitting in the second wild-card spot and Seattle is 5 1/2 games back. This is a good chance for the Mariners to make up some ground.

Martin, 33, is not having a great year offensively (77 OPS+), but he brings so much to the table behind the plate defensively and while working with the pitching staff. He'll be missed this weekend.
