Dodgers acquire Jesse Chavez from Blue Jays

The Dodgers have added to their bullpen, acquiring Jesse Chavez from Toronto, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The Blue Jays are getting righty Mike Bolsinger in return, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Chavez, 32, has pitched out of the bullpen this season for the Blue Jays after starting at least 20 games each of the last two seasons. As a member of the bullpen, Chavez has pitched to a 4.57 ERA in 41.1 innings.

He could very easily go back into the rotation, or be used as a bullpen/swingman. The Dodgers currently only have four healthy starters, with Clayton Kershaw still out and their recent acquisition, Rich Hill, is also sidelined as well.

Bolsinger, 28, started in six games for the Dodgers this season, going 1-4 with a 6.83 ERA. What the Blue Jays do with the right-hander will be interesting. He could just replace the roll that Chavez had, or he could give the team more depth at starter, as they head down the home stretch of the season.
