Blue Jays acquire Scott Feldman from Astros

Toronto acquired Scott Feldman from the Blue Jays in exchange for Guadalupe Chavez, according to MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart.

The Blue Jays have been seeking pitching depth and were hoping to add at least one before the non-waiver trade deadline.

Feldman, 33, is having a solid season with the Astros. Over 62.0 innings, he’s pitched to a 2.90 ERA and 4.23 FIP.

Feldman is an option for the Blue Jays to turn to once Aaron Sanchez reaches his innings limit. He opened the season as Houston’s fourth starter but since April has been used primarily as a reliever.

Feldman, who has pitched to a career 4.35 ERA and 4.38 FIP, is an impending free agent and is due about $2.75 million this season. His best season came in 2014 with the Astros, when he pitched to a 3.74 ERA.

Chavez is having success in the Gulf Coast League, pitching to a 1.69 ERA over 32 innings.
