Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson somehow walked away from frightening pitch to the head

This moment could have been so much worse for Toronto Blue Jays star Josh Donaldson — in the ninth inning of Friday’s tilt against the Kansas City Royals, closer Kelvin Herrera threw a pitch that got away from him and hit the reigning AL MVP in the head.

But Donaldson got up and walked to first base:

Replays show the pitch smacked a piece of Donaldson’s ear flap. Frightening, but a relief that he appeared to be okay.
