Brad Jones had a day. The Bluefield first baseman went 4-for-4 with three homers and a double (and even found time to take a walk) against former Blue Jays (now Yankees) affiliate Pulaski, leading the B-Jays to a 12-5 win. Bluefield is in second place in the Appalachian League East and is in a playoff spot, 1.5 games ahead of the Princeton Rays.

The radio voices of the Toronto Blue Jays' system drop in to discuss the latest from the past week, including playoff races in Bluefield, Lansing and Dunedin. Bradley Jones heats up, taking over the Appalachian home run and extra-base lead with a three-HR Thursday; Angel Perdomo justifies his Midwest League Post Season All-Star honour and Jordan Romano posts 10 swinging strikeouts in six dominant innings for Lansing; Kevin Pillar posts one of the best brief rehab stints that Dunedin has ever seen; Darrell Ceciliani makes a successful return to Buffalo; and The Nation himself, Rob Fai, is profiled on Sportsnet. Oh, and there was a skunk delay in Dayton, Ohio. Can't forget that.

Since the minor league regular season is wrapping up in the next week or two, let’s check to see if the other affiliates have a chance to get into the postseason:

• The GCL Blue Jays are two games back of the GCL Phillies in the GCL Northwest. They are not in a playoff spot right now despite having the second best record in the league, .100 points higher than the third best team. Damn the imbalanced divisions! Their elimination number is 4.
• The Vancouver Canadians finished last in the first half and are 10 games back of the division in the second half. Their elimination number is 2.
• The Lansing Lugnuts were eliminated in the first half and are 11 games back in the division in the second half. However, the first half division winner (the South Bend Cubs) are in second place, 2 games behind the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Because the Cubs already qualified for playoffs in the first half, the third best team in the division will qualify for the second half. Right now the Great Lakes Loons are a half-game ahead of the Lugnuts for third place, meaning Lansing can advance if they overtake the Loons. But the West Michigan Whitecaps are right there, a game behind the Lugnuts. Matt W helpfully tells me that the Whitecaps already won a berth in the first half so it's really just between the Loons and Lugnuts.
• The Dunedin Blue Jays were fifth in the first half, but are now the division leaders in the second half, 1.5 games ahead of the Daytona Tortugas and two games ahead of the Clearwater Threshers.
• The New Hampshire Fisher Cats have been eliminated from the Eastern League playoffs.
• The Buffalo Bisons have been eliminated from International League contention.
