Congratulations to the Blue Jays, who just wrapped up the American League East with a 15-2 rout of the Orioles in the first half of a doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Camden Yards. The lineup for the night game should be a laugher.

Edwin Encarnacion cranked his 37th home run of the season, Jose Bautista slugged his 40th, and Marcus Stroman fired eight innings of one-run ball as the Jays rolled right over the O’s in the makeup game following Tuesday night’s rainout. Stroman, believed to be done for the year when he tore his ACL in March, now boasts a 1.67 ERA in 27 innings (four starts) since making his 2015 debut on September 12 against the Yankees.

This is the first American League East championship for the Blue Jays since 1993, and it will also be their first trip to the playoffs since that 1993 campaign.

Toronto is in position to carry homefield advantage throughout the postseason.

A remarkable turnaround for a club that was 50-51 on July 28.
