The Seattle Mariners have acquired lefty starter Wade LeBlanc from the Blue Jays in exchange for a player to be identified later. They always say a “player to be named later” but the dude has a name already. He’s had one for anywhere between 20 and 30 years. His parents aren’t loonies. There are laws about that stuff too. He merely needs to be identified.

As for LeBlanc, he has not appeared in a major league game since 2014, but he’s been pitching outstandingly at Triple-A for the Jays, posting a 1.71 ERA and an 85/21 K/BB ratio through 89 and two-thirds innings. He’s 31 and he’s 21-33 as a swingman across seven big league seasons with the Padres, Marlins, Yankees, Angels and Astros.

LeBlanc will start in place of Taijuan Walker this Friday as the M’s take on the Cardinals. Walker has a bum foot.
