Blue Jays acquire outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. from Padres

The Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of acquiring Melvin Upton Jr. from the San Diego Padres, who will pay down a very substantial portion of the outfielder’s salary, according to industry sources.
